3R connects end consumers with our electronics recycling system through social media and home collections
Long description
3R created a system for recycling electronics, which connects us directly with the final consumer, without dependence on public initiative or large companies. We advertise on social media, carry out home collections, and finally designate the equipment for reuse or recycling. Using UN studies, more specifically the E-Waste Monitor, we understand that around 80 percent of obsolete or disused equipment is stored in homes or small businesses. Most companies that work with Electronics Recycling in Brazil are linked to large manufacturers, public initiative or collectors’ cooperatives. These companies, however, have a passive role in contact with the final consumer, who often accumulates this equipment because they do not know how to dispose of it correctly. Our system solves part of this deficiency by acting directly. Currently, our operations are restricted to the metropolitan region of São Paulo. The prize fund offered will be enough to cover one year of fixed costs freeing up our current revenue for investment in expanding the service. 3R’s current income comes from the sale of remanufactured equipment and raw materials for recycling with plastic, metals and circuit boards. We have been operating for 27 months.
