A fashion business model that upcycles local community and manufacturer's fashion waste utilizing women artisanal skills and innovating with them.
Long description
Made Neo fashion brand creates contemporary fashion utilizing garment and textile waste on an e-commerce platform. Phase one has been: up-cycling: adding value to used garments through a selection of fabric treatments, for example, natural dying, applique, embroidery etc. We have developed unique, signature fabric treatments that produce one-of-a-kind, clothing items and currently collaborating with local garment manufacturers to design and manufacture limited edition collections (that are easily upcycled and repurposed later) with their dead stock and scrap fabric. We will share resources such as social media, e-commerce, marketing, and promotions. We identify three other phases: 1. At our proposed Sustainable Fashion Innovation lab, offer customization, collection, and DIY programme. This space will operate as production space in general and highlight its customization tenet where clients deliver their garment and select the treatments they desire through consultation, or they can book time to do it themselves with our direction and support. The location will also serve as a drop off point for used garments. 2. Develop a programme to harness the underutilized artisanal and artistic skills of women in the community to satisfy our need for innovative and create solutions for future growth. We will offer training to this demographic that will enhance their existing skills and learn our textile treatment techniques. This program builds capacity amongst this population and creates the opportunity for employment with us or to foster their own small business development. 3. Include Technology and equipment for deconstruction and innovation of garment and textile waste.
