Farm located in South Africa that is dedicated to sustainable and innovative insect farming.
Long description
For livestock farmers who are grappling with high prices and poor quality in a burdened agri-feed market, we provide sustainable nutrient dense insect protein in the form of black soldier fly larvae.
Unlike other protein farmers such as soya and fish, whose farming practices destroy our soil, and biodiversity of our environment, our company draws on sustainable insect protein practices that have organic waste management and climate action at its core.
By bioengineering the natural life cycle of a black soldier fly, we are able to collect organic waste from numerous waste sources, and feed it to black soldier fly larvae, converting it into sustainable and nutrient dense insect protein and fertiliser. By doing so we divert tonnes of waste from landfills, reducing methane emissions at landfills, mitigating climate change and increasing the supply of feed and fertilizer.
In this way we are closing the food loop, redefining waste as a resource and contributing to a circular food system.
Our goal is to create a low carbon, low budget model that can be scaled small scale on a large scale.
