An event in Brazil to swap materials, accessories and costumes to make carnival more sustainable.
Long description
I’m Amanda, a brazilian 36 year old graphic and product designer and content creator since 2010. I absolutely love carnival. I play drums in what we call “blocos”, which is like brass bands in rio’s street carvinal and i make a lot of content teaching my followers how to make their own costumes for carnival.
Carnival is the most popular cultural event in Brazil and after years making content about it, my profile became popular and i start to build a community of followers that loves carnival as much as i do. Thinking about the amount of materials and costumes that we accumulate over the years, I’ve created an event called “troca-troca”, which in english would me something like “swapping”, an interchange of materials, accessories and costumes. If have something that I don’t use anymore, I can go to the event and exchange with somebody else. In that way, we make carnival more circular and sustainable. Last week we did the second edition and it was a success! It’s awesome to see how people engage and leave the event full of energy, creativity and excitement to make their own costumes with the materials they’ve exchanged at the event.
My desire is to expand this project and take the event to other states like San Paolo and Recife and create an online platform that would facilitate this exchange with carnival lovers.
