Circular Biomaterial Boxes

ComposTerra’s mission is to make sustainable lifestyles more accessible by extending the journey of biomaterials. In this project we develop a luxury packaging solution for watches and jewellery that is fully circular.

The luxury industry is confronted with huge expectations to become green, while keeping its desirability and luxury nature. Our solution combines green innovation with aesthetic design to offer a sustainable alternative to current packaging solutions. We turn waste streams, like coffee fleece and wheat bran, into a useful and beautiful products. Our production method uses heat and pressure to press our mixture into panels. We use laser cutting to cut panels into a modular set that can be assembled into boxes and customised with a logo.

Our circular innovation provides a sustainable alternative to conventional materials. ComposTerra’s products are made from renewable sources and are fully compostable. Hence, they turn into fruitful soil instead of mircoplastics.

As a product design consultancy we support SMEs in their circular transformation. By providing them with our recipes and expertise we have a bigger impact than setting up our own production. In our R&D laboratory we constantly research new materials that are made from waste streams and can replace existing polluting materials.

Our Maastricht based team combines different cultural and professional backgrounds. This range of skills allows us to offer our clients holistic services: discovering green materials that satisfy their clients without damaging the planet.
