Converting waste into resource

Eco-Clean Ghana Foundation is a social enterprise that envisages turning all categories of waste into useful products. We aim to promote and design products using the circular economy principles of take, make, use, and recycle. We design plastic wastes into fashionable ecological sustainable bags (called Ecobags). We recycle one of the major plastic drinking water packages that are littered all over Ghana due to the hygienic nature of the drinking water in this plastic package. Million tons of these plastics waste in a year are produced. According to statistics, only 3 percent of the waste we produce in Ghana is recycled. This project aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Redesign waste into a resource by recycling waste, particularly the drinking plastics package waste into Ecobags.
• Produce fashionable eco-bags that meet the demand of the public. These products will be designed for Schools, Office workers, Laptop users, travel bags, Market packages, and Mobile Phone Packs.
• Establish Eco-Greening School Clubs in our community schools to promote the circular economy and enable the student to become aware of waste and environmental sustainability at an early age
• Create a recycling learning hub for youth, and girls both literate and illiterate to recycle more waste into a resource thereby sensitizing the public about proper waste management systems.
• Create a market for recycling, and upcycling products
