By designing-with (Wakkary, 2021) what we wear, it is possible to reflect on our relationship with nature and garments.

Long description

While the fashion industry has begun to focus on sustainability in recent years, it won’t be enough without critical thinking consumers. For this, it is urgent that humans re-experience nature and its cycles, from a “natureculture” perspective (Malone, 2016).

In this line, this project proposes to re-think the wardrobe as a “repertoire” (Wakkary, 2021), with the idea of being able to articulate a more intimate and embodied relationship with nature from the experience of what we wear.

For this, through slow fashion processes such as making garments with crochet, toothpick and the insertion of the seeds in the act of weaving, we will design a new compostable material to create wearables that allows germination. This would be possible by using the body, care control sensors, and the human-plant relationship itself as textiles co-creators.
