We convert biodegradable organic waste using an innovative waste recycling technology to provide sustainable propagating solutions to farmers.
Long description
Agriculture is one of the sectors that is struggling with the impacts of climate change. Traditional farming system poses a serious threat of exploitation and depletion of natural soil leading to further complications. Africa Harvest Enterprises (T) Limited is an agribusiness start-up venture that is engaged in advancing agricultural productivity by offering innovative, effective and sustainable propagating solutions to farmers in the agriculture sector. Our company uses an innovative waste recycling technology to recycle nutrients by converting biodegradable organic waste into useful agricultural inputs. Our company uses coconut husks to extract an eco-friendly and 100% organic growing medium for agricultural production. The end-product is an eco-soil substitute known as coco peat. This powdered product is extracted by up-cycling coconut husks through an innovative industrial procedure. The innovation addresses the need for a new soil substitute to replace and eliminate the excessive exploitation of natural soil that happens from traditional farming practices. The project adds value to coconut value chain by making use of coconut husks which is usually considered as an agricultural waste. Moreover, the project addresses the most important aspect of sustainability in agriculture if we are racing towards producing more food by the year 2050. Coco peat is characterized with the best qualities as a propagating solution providing high water holding capacity, light weight, organic and disease free environment for plants. The product has proven to be an effective planting medium with the best yield results as compared to natural soil and peat moss.
