Sustainable fabrics made from CO2 captured at hard-to-abate industry sites
Long description
Fairbrics have implemented the novel proprietary technology based on the latest development of catalytic chemistry. CO2 from difficult-to-abate industries is directly recycled into polyester fibres suitable for fabrics manufacturing. The process includes 4 major steps:
- CO2 is captured from an industrial source (ex: steel or cement manufacturing)
- CO2 is mixed with a catalyst and 2 carefully selected reaction intermediates
- The resulting polyester fibers are processed in the same way as for oil-based polymers to manufacture polyester pellets then polyester yarns.
- Polyester yarns are spun into textile fabrics to produce fashion products for all.
