Homegrown bio-leather bag & purse combined with rainy day rubbish, offering an alternative to leather, plastic and pointless waste

Long description

For a few years now, Cultureclub Creations has been developing a range of materials that are made from completely natural ingredients, are 100% biodegradable, use minimal energy, zero waste and are water resistant. The main ingredient is a cellulose bi-product of kombucha, a fermented drink grown in sweet tea but which can also be grown in food waste.

By growing an alternative to leather and plastic, Cultureclub is then mixing this fabric with discarded waste such as broken umbrellas, old clothes or a salvaged clasp, buckle or strap from an old bag or accessory, whatever rubbish that can be repurposed. With a bit of imagination and innovation we can create a range of unique homegrown, up-cycled but also compostable products.

When the product reaches its end of life it can be easily dismantled, the bio-leather added to the compost heap and the added materials or parts can be returned for reuse or recycling. Taking design full circle and a step in the right direction to ease the problem of completely pointless waste.
