Ibu is a flavour company, with a current focus on both dairy and plant-based ice cream products. Our ice cream is made using locally sourced, organic and in-season ingredients, reducing carbon footprint and supporting local farmers. The packaging is currently compostable, but we want to also make it plantable seed packaging, so not just to reducing plastic waste, but to stimulate growth of plants. The packaging has stamped branding with the ink made from natural dye to avoid using adhesives and plastics that stickers have?
We want to implement a closed-loop system where waste generated in the production process, such as leftover ingredients, will be composted and used to fertilize the local farms we source our ingredients from, and our packaging can be planted instead of discarded in the bin. We want to market our business as a sustainable and socially responsible alternative to traditional ice cream brands, but with modern visual styles and merchandise. This will attract environmentally conscious consumers, who are willing to pay a premium for responsible products, but also create a new market unseen in Kenya for a typical consumer product that has not been offered in this manner.
