Rethinking the packages as a bonus product when you shop

Long description

Everytime you buy a product it comes with something extra, something you didn’t wish for – a package, a bag, a bottle, a box, a tab. Even the bananas have these little stickers on them.  You are getting 2 for 1, but have you thought about it that way?

“Keep the package” initiative is trying to rethink the usage of packaging. To show them in a new light as a bonus product, that you can profit from, that you can use or just collect, because they look nice.

The pilot project starts with a specific type of packaging – yogurt containers. In my country – Bulgaria, over 400,000 tons of yogurt are consumed every year. You can imagine how many containers there are. The offered solution is simple and would not cost much. The production stays the same, but with just a little cosmetic changes in the design + widely spoken in the media new added function, the container can turn into a product by itself, not just a single use package. The containers are already commonly used in Bulgaria as plant pots. The initiative will encourage further this type of afterlife for the package by removing the cow from the cover and replacing it with a more neutral design, appropriate for both yogurt or a plant.
