Long Live Our Apparel: Insights From A Circular Design Journey.
Long description
As designers, we play a vital role placing circularity at the forefront of what we do.
“Long Live Our Apparel” is about collecting all the know-how that already exists regarding circular design and creating a series of garments with an interdisciplinary perspective; exploring a vast array of possibilities through a system-thinking and metacognitive approach.
Each garment is planned to be co-created by me as a fashion designer and an expert in fields such as eco-efficiency assessment, zero waste sewing, natural dyeing, recycling, 3D printing, corporate social responsibility, etc.
Knowing that the majority of the fashion industry’s problems could be solved in the early stages of the design process, the project intends to experiment and learn from applying different circular design techniques.
Furthermore, the project aims to record the journey and share perspectives, challenges, and opportunities in each part of the value chain, specifically in the Mexican fashion industry context.
Collaboration is necessary across the industry, we want to contribute by showing our pathway to a more restorative and regenerative fashion industry. This is why the project also proposes to make information available for students, designers, brands, and retailers through a website platform.
We want to ignite curiosity, inspire, and create solutions together in the fashion industry.
