MINIMAIS – CORN MASK

We are the first fully biodegradable mask made from corn husks in Vietnam with the commitment to minimize the food loss impact and bring benefits to humans and the environment.

Currently, 1.5 billion tonnes of corn stalks are left in the fields as food loss while the traditional method is burning them, which is proven to release GHGs. Therefore, we aim to generate a way to recycle corn loss into biodegradable masks at its true price and share the benefits with farmers. We believe that our initiative will redesign the food system in the agricultural sector so that it is resilient, fair and circular.

Since the COVID outbreak, the consumption of single-use non-degradable masks has been remarkably increasing, which pollutes our environment and reversely impacts human respiratory system health. Our product is aiming to become a sustainable alternative for single-use medical masks from end-to-end. Main ingredients of corn fiber itself include cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Corn masks is produced with no harmful chemical additives and its superior features than the single-use ones namely outstanding resistance, low odor retention, UV resistance, durability while still maintaining color fastness and compostable.
