NOT SO WASTED gives second chances to building materials, because everything deserves another chance!
Long description
Is it something to brag about using virgin materials for each new construction?
To build something new with the principles of circular economy, we propose a perspective to see the built environment as an urban mine. We, as NOT SO WASTED, appreciate the value of second-hand materials and propose a new building practice by using them as a resource. We use these materials in our projects by cooperating with formal and informal actors and storage venues that currently collect reclaimed materials.
Nah, I Think It’s Beautiful Pavilion, which we completed last summer, was produced with completely reclaimed materials as a result of the relationships established with these actors in Istanbul. We took part in all stages such as the design which we went through with one-to-one communication with the employer, material determination and supply, finding production sites, and constructing with participation. With the help of this experience, we imagined a “network” in which each dynamic of it is adaptable and scalable to different conditions. Therefore we became a business practice that gives service of coordination between design, production, supply, and consulting separately.
