Here at Planet Conservation, we are committed to giving plastic waste a new purpose rather than ending up in a landfill or our oceans. With the waste we collect on our weekly beach clean-ups, with the kids from our environmental education club and the local community, we create unique products like bracelets, combs, key chains, flower pots and rulers. Our mission is to increase our community’s recycling intake and manufacture plastic lumber to construct houses, playgrounds, benches and bridges. To achieve our goals, we need to build a workshop and craft studio and acquire a new machine that can break down a wide variety of plastic and larger waste products. As well as being a sustainable solution that turns waste into something positive, plastic wood is much better suited to the humid climate here in the Caribbean. We also work closely with the education system and could provide eco-friendly materials for our schools. With an expanded workshop, we can provide jobs for locals and immigrants, creating a circular economy and waste management system.
