The housing prototype gives way to the solution of constructive idiosyncrasy, thus being a self-sustainable project in the face of natural catastrophe
Long description
The prototype is a social housing solution with a scope of vision and innovation for communities in a state of precariousness, opening the way and counteracting the challenges of extreme poverty. The concept of the project model focuses on providing a self-sustainable safe environment and curbing idiosyncratic construction in order to generate a self-sustaining community. The creation of a prototype that generates social identity taken from the hand of community self-construction.
Conceived as both cohesive and open to the local community, the project seeks to value (and at the same time in crisis) the traditional model of emergency housing, the “Mediagua”, recognizing its historical role in helping families affected by disasters and the wide dissemination and popularity of its construction system, which is linked to the intervention of the “individual” citizen.
The self-supporting bamboo structure is an independent module of easy on-site construction, which makes the project self-sustainable. The interior of the building is well lit with natural light and cross ventilation which generates a micro climate inside. The walls are made entirely of prefabricated bamboo panels giving a warm and natural feeling.
The house, besides satisfying the needs of the user and being of social character, should conceive a progressive hybrid sense, which will allow it to give its own economic sustenance in the long term.
