BuildX and partners are pioneering mass timber processing and building, the most promising opportunity for eliminating carbon in buildings on a global scale.

We therefore see mass timber demonstration buildings as being critical to demonstrating feasibility, breaking down barriers and raising market awareness. BuildX is currently developing a flagship mass timber project called “XLT” to promote the use of timber in construction projects in East Africa.

XLT stands for BuildX + Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and will be an iconic landmark nested in the heart of Nairobi’s commercial center, providing a vibrant environment to business leaders and forward-thinking organizations.

The XLT Tower will set new standards for sustainable design and will bring innovative technologies to meet the needs of a fast-changing marketplace.

XLT Tower aims to deliver the highest standards of certified Green Buildings in order to
attract the most demanding and environmentally conscious organizations.

This follows a 2-year R&D project including the construction of a mass timber prototype exhibition in Nairobi -the first of its kind in East Africa.
