Close-loop System Design for Food Container Using Waste Material in Eventual Activity

Long description

Food containers at events are usually made of disposable plastic material, which if contaminated with food will become residual waste that transported to the landfill immediately. The goal is to design the concept of cutlery that can reduce waste accumulation by applying a sustainable system and circular concept, changing people’s habits in using single-use products, and waste materials.

UADA is an experimental project of making various kind of containers using waste materials, without leaving any harmful residue. We understand that to reduce waste at the ocean, we should start from the very top of the production chain. Using the environmental-friendly material, method of production, distribution, to the very last chain in the life cycle of the product, we pay attention to the detail, so we don’t produce any waste at all. With this project, we also intend to educate the society about the harmful act of human to the environment and how we can prevent it.

For our first project, we targeted the food container at events and food delivery packaging, using deciduous dried leaf material to replace the use of disposable plastic that potentially could end up floating at the ocean. Dried leaf material will be biodegraded in 30 days. Every part of the container and the production residue is compostable and safe for the environment.
