Long description

Unloc is a software tool which helps developers, individuals and companies create Web Apps which are as good, if not better, than conventional apps.  Web Apps have a much longer lifetime than conventional apps and their adoption would greatly extend the time between mobile phones being replaced.

A Web App is simply an app which runs in the browser on your phone.  Browsers adhere to a strict set of standards which enable software to be written which will continue to work for years into the future.  This is unlike conventional apps which require the phone to be replaced in order to run “the latest app”.

More specifically, Unloc helps the creation of Web Apps which can respond to people being in specific locations.  Examples of these might be tours, historical guides, games or artworks which link you to the place you are in.

More location based Web Apps would act as examples of an alternative to conventional apps.

The design principles are:

• Must be open source so it is not dependent on any one group or company or susceptible to being bought out
• Must run in a standard browser (Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Edge, etc)
