Up-cycling non wearable jeans into fashion accessories (bags) that are recyclable and naturally dyed with the innovative WAKE technology.
Long description
The Swapshop is the first franchise formula for clothing exchange shops in The Netherlands, and as far as we know in Europe. In The Swapshop you can personally hand in your clothes, in exchange for ‘swaps’. You can use your swaps to receive a 50% discount on the sales price of items in our shops and online. Currently we have one shop in Amsterdam, and from 2023 onwards we will expand in The Netherlands through our franchise formula. In this way we can extend the life cycle of even more items though reuse (R3), and increase our impact together with local entrepreneurs.
Since co-founder Laura is living in Milan, Italy, we will also expand to Italy in 2023. We collaborate with Humana People to People, where handed in but non wearable clothes go to the sorting center of Humana. In exchange for these items, Humana provides us with non wearable denim jeans (recycle category) for our up-cycling project. We will up-cycle (R7) these denim jeans to fashion accessories, even before they will be going to waste or recycled (R8) with a higher environmental impact. The products are designed by up-cycle designer Francesca Patania, part of Humana.
