Get to know Vifour, A new textile made from textile waste that can be endlessly recycled.
Long description
Vifour is a new textile material with circular properties. The material is made from 92 % of non-recyclable fabric scraps and 7 % natural and plant-based binding material.
Recycling textiles in modern society is a challenging process. It is mostly only done with materials 100 per cent made from one material and even then there has to be virgin material added. In the modern age, most textiles end up in a landfill. Vifour gives these unrecyclable fabric scraps a new purpose in a fully circular coat. The leather-like material can be endlessly recycled without losing quality, which makes it perfectly suited for our circular system.
Currently, Vifour is already in use through a few collaborations with other designers. However, we strive towards a world in which we can implement Vifour into everyday life.
We are currently setting up a circular system in which all produced Vifour will return to our factory (even the cutting scraps) in which we strive towards a time no new Vifour is needed but we can fully function purely through the recycling process. The nice thing about this is that the recycling process is easier and with lower costs than the original production. This makes it already functional in the current economy.
With our company, we strive towards a mindset change, but minds change slowly. With Vifour we want to offer a solution that works both in the current economy and in the economy we strive towards.
