I’m Yanni the co-founder of Entomal Biotech from Malaysia. We breed flies and turn waste into wealth.

When I paid a visit to my father’s hometown in 2018, witnessing the scene of rubbish piles dumped onto the old site of our family homes disgusted me. Not because of how dirty it was, but of how selfish humans have been.We had to look for a solution to tackle this!

Organic waste, specifically, contributes to 68% of all waste dumped openly/landfills. Global Food Production accounts for 26% of GHG with 6% coming from food that’s never eaten. The emission from food waste is also 3x larger than the aviation industry.

We’ve introduced the Entomal Mobile BioConversion System (EMBC) using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) technology. EMBC is a container system that treats organic waste and transform it into high-quality insect protein and nutrient-rich fertiliser.

The EMBC system can be deployed at various waste generation sources and can serve as an education hub. It provides a sustainable solution for managing waste, reduce waste sent to landfills, and decrease GHG emission.

Overall, the EMBC system offers a cost-effective, durable, and scalable way to up-cycle waste that can have significant impact on the environment and society.
